Elanora

Elanora, an Aboriginal word for “home by the sea”, was originally named as a platform on the South Coast Rail Line in 1922.

Elanora is bounded by Tallebudgera Creek to the northwest, Pacific Motorway to the northeast and east, and Guineas Creek and Simpsons Road to the southeast. It contains Elanora State High School, Elanora Primary School and a small neighbourhood shopping centre on Nineteenth Avenue, and a larger shopping centre on Guinness Creek Rd called “The Pines”. Elanora also boasts a large public library.

Tucked away behind Palm Beach amid a range of parklands and natural reserves, Elanora is a popular area for families, particularly those with young children.

With nearby golf courses and many of the older trees in the area being conserved during development the suburb is a very green area with plenty of space.

Unlike its neighbouring canal estates, Elanora is positioned on a ridge giving residents wonderful ocean, creek or lake views.

Most people of Elanora live in houses within estates while there are still some semi-rural homes in the southern area closer to Currumbin Valley.
